About Me

Thank you for visiting my site. Feel free to look around.

Hi, my name is Ruel Felipe, and I’m a photographer based in East Texas. I grew up in the Philippines and relocated to the United States in the spring of 1986. After spending a few years in San Jose, California, I eventually settled in East Texas in 2001.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Advertising with a minor in Photography. For over 20 years, I’ve worked as a Graphic Artist, while maintaining a strong involvement in photography throughout my entire career. I consider myself fortunate to have worked in environments that constantly evolve with technology.

In 2010, I served as President of the East Texas Professional Photographers Forum, and since 2007, I’ve been the official photographer for the East Texas Yamboree.

My photography journey began in 2004, when I purchased my first digital SLR camera primarily for freelance projects. Initially, I photographed various subjects—from baits and antique guns to furniture. Soon after, I began taking portraits for church groups and local companies. When I was offered my first wedding assignment, I accepted without hesitation—and was instantly hooked by the challenge.

What started as a weekend pursuit to supplement my income gradually grew into something much more. As demand increased, I made a bold decision: to focus on photography full-time, keeping graphic arts as a secondary profession. Though the beginning was tough, I’m proud to see my business steadily grow. Today, I continue to strive for excellence, constantly learning and adapting to the latest trends and technologies, especially those shaped by AI advancements.
